Looking Back at 2016
Dear Friends,
As I reflect on 2016, I look at the progress of iLLUMULUS since its inception in November 2015. It all started with an idea in 2014. I wanted to start a marketing company that did more than just help sell a product. I wanted to create value for companies. Incorporating components such as a global understanding to enhance competitiveness, a marketing ecosystem to identify sustainability, agile and lean to get to market faster and the ability to uncover marketing insights to drive innovation to stay competitive in the future.

My vision was and still is to create value for organizations through marketing initiatives. Marketing should create value for your company, not just increase sales. Value comes in the form of enhancing your brand to build trust, reaching new customer segments to drive growth, integrating social media to create transparency and listening to customer feedback to drive product innovation.My approach is to apply lean agile processes through marketing initiatives to drive quicker partner growth; shorten the research and evaluation timeframe; balance strategy with creativity; and do real time testing and measuring in markets through iteration.
Like any new business, the first year is always challenging. I started in November 2015 with just myself but quickly assembled a small but highly effective team of marketing professionals around June this year. While my focus was to offer services in the US market, it quickly transitioned into global marketing initiatives with key partners looking to enter the US market and vice versa. While our story is just beginning, we can say we now have satellite offices in Seoul and Bogota as we work with our partners across multiple countries and have grown our social media followers to almost 5,000 in the last six months. I believe our growth can be attributed to our continued willingness to go beyond our partner’s expectations.
We look forward to 2017 as we continue to work with our partners and introduce new marketing initiatives such as an online product launch in South Korea, social media management/content creation in Thailand, startup marketing seminars in Rwanda, marketing strategy development in Colombia & USA and business development in Vietnam. We are also excited about preparing to launch our own marketing product line this 1st quarter in 2017, going beyond our service based marketing solutions.
Before I finish this CEO message, many people ask about our name, iLLUMULUS. I wanted a name that was unique and creative but still represented value. After much research, concept development and feedback, I finally settled on the combined name based on its meanings. iLLUMULUS is derived from two words: illuminate (brighten with light) and cumulus (towering clouds), thus creating ideas within cloud based solutions and so iLLUMULUS was born.
